The main aim of the project is to design a new kind of urban settlement for social and environmental sustainability. The goals are open and mixed community, less foot print, natural lighting and ventilation. The open green areas are organized in public, semipublic and private gardens open to the necessities of all generations.

The approach to the Plaistow hospital neighbourhood is a balanced and to the local conditions adapted combination of building integrated measures and mechanical systems with the goal to reach a maximum of user comfort and, at the same time, a minimum of energy demand and thus operation cost.
